We offer high-quality, low-cost workshops across a range of artforms. Our workshops are for people of all ages and abilities.

Events

We produce an ongoing program of exhibitions, live performances, forums, showings of art in development, open studios and artist talks. Many of our events are low-cost or free.

Community Cultural Development (CCD) Artist Residencies Program

Our CCD resident artists are high-calibre practitioners who link with our artistic projects. In 2006, we will work with four CCD resident artists.

ArtLife - incorporating the Art Day West Program

This program provides opportunities for people with disabilities to participate in a range of artistic experiences, covering artforms such as theatre, ceramics, music and writing. These arts activities are combined with the development of life skills in areas such as communication, cooking and general self-development. ArtLife activities are at Footscray Arts and other community-based settings in the western region.

Community Cultural Development (CCD) Incubators

This program supports groups associated with Footscray Arts in achieving greater levels of independence and self-determination (eg assistance with formal incorporation, support to undertake a new artistic direction, etc.).

In 2006, our incubator groups will be: the circus group POW (Performing Older Women), youth theatre groups Y3P (Young Peoples' Performance Projects) and SCRAYP - Youth Arts with an Edge, the Multicultural Choir, and hip hop event producers Jungle City.

Communities. Create. Culture.

We are working with the City of Maribyrnong and Victoria University to talk with people about the best ways of working with communities.

The first step: develop and implement a new framework for community consultation and engagement.

The second step: create a best practice, community cultural development and community partnerships model that will be applied to our artistic projects and the long term planning of the partner organisations.
