We acknowledge that we are on traditional lands of the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation. We offer our respect to the Elders of these traditional lands and, through them, to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Located on the banks of the Maribyrnong River, Footscray Community Arts Centre is a physical space for developing and presenting outstanding community-based art and an iconic space for the western region. Since 1974 the Centre has been a vibrant hub of artistic activity for local artists and community groups, as well as for leading arts companies and practitioners.
The Footscray Arts facilities are currently spread across two buildings – Henderson House and the Warehouse. Happy River Café is also based at the Centre. Built in 1872 as a residence and piggery, Henderson House is a bluestone building that is listed on the National Trust Register of Historic Buildings. Spaces in Henderson House include the Basement Theatre and the Gabriel Gallery. The Warehouse will not be used in 2010 as the site is redeveloped as part of Footscray Arts’ extensive new building project.
