Stomps and chest pumps were the order of the day on Saturday 6 December as krump boys n’ gals from far and wide filled the Footscray Arts Amphitheatre for the nation’s biggest krump competition! Led by Kaos Fam, relentless Krump MC Pretty Ruff kept the energy super buck through rounds and rounds (and rounds and rounds) of krump battles.Highlights included tunes from Fu aka DJ Krunch, a sizzlin’ BBQ from Mama and Papa Kaos and crowd bustin’ moves from Sad, Pysche, Ruff, and some amazing guest krumpers from Perth. Director of the event Homer Eugenio was rapt with how it all went down, saying “I feel it’s the next real evolution of krump by the up and coming generation.” For more information on THE GAME, including details of the next instalment visit www.ozkrump.com/forum
The krumping action continued on Sunday 7 December as Footscray Arts said goodbye (with pride and a tinge of sadness) to Incubator group Grrilla Step. And they certainly left the Centre in style with a massive free concert celebrating the talents of this amazing group of musicians and dancers. Blessed with the likes of DJ Dexter, dancer Albert David, the unstoppable drummer Airi Ingram and his beautiful drumming partner Anna, and the boys from Royal Fam this was a tight, hot show – folks were feeling the beat and Grrilla Step brought the house down! They may no longer be a part of the team at Footscray Arts but don’t miss them if they’re coming to a gig near you! For more details visit the Grrilla Step myspace page.
