Public Art? Is it too important to be decided by the public? This is the question posed by leading public arts expert, founder of greyworld, and international guest artist at Footscray Community Arts Centre, Andrew Shoben. It is also the linchpin of Fits & Misses, a new exhibition presented by Footscray Community Arts Centre which invites the public, alongside three ‘arts identities’ – contemporary art curator, Juliana Engberg, cultural producer and commentator, Marcus Westbury, and acclaimed street artist, Ha Ha - to respond.
We want your contribution to this highly personal exploration of art in public places by sending us your favourite (‘Fits’) and least-loved (‘Misses’) public art images. The images will be uploaded onto our Fits & Misses Digital Matrix which will be installed in our Access Gallery throughout September.
You can then vote on your favourite and least favourite and we’ll reveal the number one FIT and MISS at the end of September.
So join us on an idiosyncratic journey through some of the world’s best and worst public art. Check out all the details on our website and get those images to us. Images should be in jpeg format, and no larger than 1MB.
