We acknowledge that we are on traditional lands of the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation. We offer our respect to the Elders of these traditional lands and, through them, to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Come celebrate Footscray’s 150th anniversary with a free community festival featuring many of the western suburbs’ favourite artists and performing groups. Nicholson St Mall and Maddern Square will be the centre of the celebration as Maribyrnong City Council and the State Government throw one hell of a party to celebrate this significant milestone.
Footscray Community Arts Centre will be in Maddern Square on the day with our trusty shipping container converted into a mini theatre, featuring video footage of many of our innovative community-based arts projects as well as some the digital creations of our ArtLife animation students. There will also be the opportunity to give us your thoughts on our Place Art Here project, hear about our upcoming capital works, meet the Centre’s dedicated crew and, of course, plenty of fresh popcorn and give-aways.
To cap it all off, the Centre’s very own Bec Reid, Producer Arts & Community, will hit the main stage at 3.15pm to teach everyone the FootscraZy Dance - so come join in the fun and get FootscraZy with us!
Of course, this is a perfect opportunity to once again acknowledge that Footscray and surrounds has been built on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri Tribe of the Kulin Nation, and we would like to pay our respects to the elders past and present of these lands, and through them to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
