We acknowledge that we are on traditional lands of the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation. We offer our respect to the Elders of these traditional lands and, through them, to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
Footscray Community Arts Centre has long been a leader in the field of community-based arts practice and increasingly the Centre is being recognised not only for this, but also for its role as Victoria’s flagship organisation for artistic collaborations with communities. To further enhance this reputation Footscray Arts has developed The Westie Ambassador Program.
As part of this initiative, high profile members of the community are invited to act as an advocate for Footscray Community Arts Centre to government, business and benefactors. The inaugurual Westie Ambassador is Rob Moodie (Professor of Global Health, Nossal Institute for Global Health, The University of Melbourne).
Rob Moodie is an internationally renowned public health expert with 30 years experience in planning and evaluating health programs in Australia, Africa, Asia and the Pacific. He has an interest in the control of AIDS globally and was the inaugural director of country support for the joint UN program on AIDS in Geneva. He currently chairs the technical advisory panel of Avahan, the Gates Foundation’s HIV prevention program in India. Rob combines this role with his many other commitments, including chair of the Melbourne 2030 audit, and chair of Melbourne Storm Rugby League Club.
