We acknowledge that we are on traditional lands of the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation. We offer our respect to the Elders of these traditional lands and, through them, to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
ArtLife is a curated art day program for people with disabilities who are passionate about the arts. The program provides opportunities for participation in a range of artistic experiences in areas including theatre, ceramics, music and writing. These arts activities are combined with the development of life skills in areas such as communication, cooking and general self-development. A timetable of current activities can be downloaded here .
Participants are taught by highly skilled artists, and have an opportunity to take part in some of Footscray Community Arts Centre’s major projects, working with professional artists and local community groups.
Selection into the program is achieved after a successful trial placement and work experience placements for students are also offered. Participants are able to attend on a part time or full time basis.
Some of the well-known Footscray Arts ArtLife groups include resident band The Hackkets and the sonic art ensemble The Amplified Elephants.
