Artists In Residence

Footscray Community Arts Centre supports artists through its highly successful and well-regarded Artists In Residence program.

First established in 2005, the Artists In Residence program attracts outstanding artists to the organisation to further their practice in developing art with communities. As well as having opportunities to work on their individual practice, all AIR are linked into the Footscray Arts artistic projects and their associated communities, thus providing these artists with valuable exposure to working on major community-based art projects.

High quality artistic activity requires high quality artists. To this end, Footscray Arts Artists In Residence are outstanding practitioners in their fields. Previous Artists In Residence include prominent media artist Emile Zile, filmmaker and award winning community-based arts practitioner Tamsin Sharp, renowned sound artist Casey Rice. ground-breaking hip-hop comedy duo Sista She (Candy Bowers and Sarah Ward), choreographer Carlee Mellow, Ben Cobham and Andrew Livingston of Bluebottle 3 and digital media artist Lindsay Cox.

Unfortunately due to the building project being undertaken throughout 2009, Footscray Arts will not be able to offer support to Artists In Residence. The program is currently under review and more details will be revealed in the future, so stay tuned.
