Footscray Community Arts Centre presents
Sunday Arvo with Rebecca Barnard
If you thought The Empire had crumbled then beware the phoenix with unfinished business. Rebecca Barnard is back. Seven years after her signature band Rebecca’s Empire called it quits, Rebecca Barnard returns to the live scene with a special FREE concert at Footscray Community Arts Centre on Sunday 9 December. Bring along the family and enjoy a set of Rebecca’s own songs (and a few favourite covers) that range from sultry pop to smokin’ jazz, all delivered with her signature warmth and endearing stage presence.
Rebecca comes from a rich musical family history and has recorded and toured with almost anyone you can think of, from Paul Kelly and Tim Rogers, Stephen Cummings, Renèe Geyer and Deborah Conway, to The Meanies and Warped. She successfully returned to recording with her 2007 album, Fortified, featuring an extremely personal collection of heartfelt tunes that tip their hat to some of Rebecca’s influences such as Lucinda Williams, Gillian Welch, The Beatles and Bob Dylan.
This Sunday Arvo with Rebecca Barnard gig coincides with Footscray Community Arts Centre’s Shaping - Children’s Festival Exhibitions and Performances. So come and see some great children’s art and join us on the lawn for an afternoon with one of Australia’s best singer-songwriters.
