An audiovisual day in the life of Footscray Arts' Hydra Studio
Hearing the Hydra
Two internationally-acclaimed artists. One historically-rich space. Sound artist and composer Ros Bandt and composer, clarinettist and visual artist Brigid Burke will uncover and interpret archaeological elements of Footscray Arts’ Hydra Studio through sound. Once part of a factory where air filters were made for FJ Holdens, this artists studio has a view of the city skyline and Maribyrnong River and a sonic landscape of passing trucks, trains - and artists. Performing as Carte Blanche: Place of Possibilities, Ros and Brigid (featuring sound assistance from Angie Grant) will combine ambient onsite recordings with live electro-acoustic music and visuals to interpret and rediscover the Hydra Studio. Come early for refreshments, and stay after the performance to chat with the artists.
Sunday 4 June, 2pm – 5pm (performance from 2.30pm – 3.20pm)
