The Dung Nguyen Experience
Join us for a free concert of Vietnamese popular music with a contemporary Western jazz influence as The Dung Nguyen Experience comes to Footscray Community Arts Centre on Sunday 9 September.
Local artist Dung Nguyen has worked with some of Australia’s foremost contemporary and jazz musicians. Traditionally trained on the dan tranh and monochord (Vietnamese stringed instruments), he also learnt guitar including jazz, pop and rock styles. In 2006 he performed at the Edinburgh Festival in a Tribute to Eva Cassidy with the Hayley Clare Quintet. The band, which has toured Australia, recently released its album Blur.
Dung Nguyen has performed with a number of Australian and Vietnamese bands throughout Australia and is a member of the successful Footscray-based band Way Out West, which has just released its second album. For this concert at Footscray Community Arts Centre, Nguyen brings together a band of Vietnamese musicians to extend their repertoire and skills by performing a range music.
