The sounds of summer are set to hit Footscray Community Arts Centre as we present our FREE Summer Music Series over five consecutive weeks. Enjoy the sound of music from around the world and around the corner.
Head to Footscray Community Arts Centre on Sunday 3 February and be transported to East Africa as part of our Summer Music Series. Enjoy a unique musical collaboration between Maltese Australian reggae dynamo Nicky Bomba and Ethiopian born Azmari musician Dereb Desalegn in this free afternoon performance.
Joined on stage by the rest of the Bomba crew, Nicky and Dereb perform a mixture of traditional and original songs. Enjoy a new African Australian sound that remains true to the wandering minstrel tradition of the Azmaris of Ethiopia, with its improvisation and non conformism, but also has an upbeat contemporary feel.
