The 2006 Artways Graduating Exhibition
Visual art lovers should head to Footscray in February for the exhibition Mirror Stage. Curated by Robert Mangion this showcase of the work of the 2006 Artways graduates offers a glimpse of what the next generation of artists is creating.
A range of works by emerging artists including Gursel Ali, Jessica Raschke, Maryanne Fenech-Gatt, Caroline Graham, Wendy Newton, Marisa Ramos, Tess Righetti and Safa Takla examine ways of describing the social and cultural conditions that make art possible today.
Entry into art courses is highly competitive and the innovative accredited Artways course creates the opportunity for students to develop a comprehensive body of work. During the year students gain the skills to create works of art in a variety of media, undertake creative pursuits with greater understanding of cultural influences that shape their development and make an informed reflective judgement about their own and other’s work. Ultimately Artways is a bridging course enabling graduates to study art at a higher level.
