Jennifer Barry

Biography

Jennifer Barry has almost 20 years experience as a manager, producer and consultant in the performing arts industry and is considered one of Australia’s most accomplished senior producers.

Before her appointment as Footscray Community Arts Centre’s Director & CEO in April 2009, Jennifer was the Director of Keep Breathing, an arts management, production, project management and consulting company she established in 2002.

As a producer Jennifer has been fortunate to work with a wide range of artists of all artistic disciplines and to manage, produce, promote and tour contemporary performance works, divergent media, web-based documentary works, festivals and events, as well as industry development and outreach and education programs. From 2006-2008 she was the recipient of one of only four ‘Supporting Independent Producers’ grants awarded nationally by the Australia Council for the Arts.

In addition to her roles as a producer and manager, Jennifer has extensive experience as a consultant specialising in strategic planning for the arts and cultural sector. In this capacity, she has worked with some of Australia’s most prestigious arts organisations including the Australian Arts Orchestra, Chamber Made Opera, the Australian Network for Art and Technology and La Mama, among many others.

Jennifer holds a Bachelor of Communications (Theatre/Media) from Charles Sturt University and a Master of Theatre Studies from the University of New South Wales. She is currently a member of the Arts Advisory Board for the City of Melbourne, a Board member of Chamber Made Opera and Ausdance (Victoria), and a member of the Abbotsford Convent Cornucopia Committee.
